Beverages to avoid include alcohol, wine, coffee and tea. Coffee, tea and wine are all highly acidic. In addition wine contains alcohol the can often make heartburn even worse for the sufferer.

You will also want to avoid some pastas. Mac and cheese and spaghetti with tomato sauce are among some of the worst of these foods.

In the dairy aisle, you will want to avoid cottage cheese (4% milk fat), milkshakes, ice cream and also sour cream.
